The Dacia Logan makes its return to France starting at €15,710

At the initiative of an importer, the Dacia Logan is making its return to France at an extremely attractive price. An offer that deserves serious consideration.

What mark did the year 2004 leave on the history of the automobile? One should not look to supercars and concept cars that are closer to science fiction than reality. No, one car changed the face of business with its ultra-pragmatic approach, minimal equipment, and very light finish, but with its XXS price: the Dacia Logan.

Owned by the Renault group, the Dacia Logan quickly gained popularity due to its selection from the French automaker’s catalog of mechanical parts. Kangoo engine, Clio front axle, Modus rear axle, and dozens of other parts from Megane, Espace, Laguna, etc., all the technical elements were well-tested and reliable.

With a production cost estimated at 3800 euros and a selling price of 7600 euros in France (so double…), everyone was happy: both the customer and Renault. Alas, with the subsequent push for higher quality by Dacia, this very low-cost approach has disappeared, even motivating the Franco-Romanian manufacturer to exclude the Logan from its catalog.

In other markets, it remains a superstar, particularly in countries where “sedans” are still popular. Think of Spain, Portugal, Eastern European countries, as well as South America and the Maghreb. That is why its production is based in Morocco to serve that geographical area.

Starting at 15,710 euros in France

Dacia France has therefore chosen to streamline its catalog by only retaining the Sandero (Logan without a trunk), Sandero Stepway (adventurous version), Jogger (Sandero Station Wagon), Duster (old and new), and Spring (electric).

However, since the Logan is duly homologated in Europe, its importation is absolutely not an administrative problem. That is why the LPG conversion specialist from Grenoble, Borel, offers this ultra-pragmatic Dacia, both in petrol and LPG versions, ready to go.

Borel offers the entry-level Essentiel version starting at 15,710 €, then the Expression (16,880 €), Journey (18,000 €), and Journey Plus (18,450 €). For an LPG version, you need to budget around 1100 euros more.

For your information, the Dacia Logan starts at 133,000 Moroccan Dirhams, or 12,400 euros. Therefore, the cost of importation is modest, and finding a sedan with such offerings still does not exist in France.

Now, we just need to know how Dacia will respond. Its sales have contracted at the beginning of 2024 due to the steep drop in Spring following its exclusion from the environmental bonus. Could the manufacturer reverse the trend by reintegrating the Logan into its catalog? That wouldn’t be the dumbest decision…
