Tesla’s Incredible $5,000 Offer!

The Tesla Model S and X are no longer the new kids on the block. So, to boost sales, what better than an Open Bar formula?

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving option, or nearly self-driving as of today, was introduced in 2019. Logically limited to North America, the only place where it is legal, it is offered as an option for $8,000 on the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y. Its price had risen to $20,000 a few months ago, but Elon Musk decided to lower it in an attempt to make it more accessible to his customers. However, Uncle Musk warns that once fully operational, it could cost as much as $100,000! So, it makes sense to get it now while it’s cheaper…

But while such an investment can be considered quite smart on newer models like the 3 and Y, the question arises for older models that are much less advanced technologically. Tesla insists that the Model S and X are sufficiently evolved to utilize all FSD features, but no one is fooled.

Tesla and its poisoned gifts

Tesla is therefore trying a new approach to sell FSD in bulk. New customers of the Model S and Model X in the United States can now add a $5,000 package to their order that grants them access to FSD for three years. Well, $3,000 off and a time limitation doesn’t sound too appealing, but if you include free Supercharging and free Premium connectivity, subscribing to this “3-year Bundle” becomes nearly mandatory! By driving 10,000 euros a month, you will quickly recoup your investment just from the Supercharging.

So why such a gift? Primarily to boost sales of the Model S and Model X, which are not slated for replacement anytime soon. Tesla is also betting on having FSD operational within three years, which will allow customers to get accustomed to the enjoyment of autonomous driving, making them addicted and then selling it to them at a much higher price for their new purchases. Nothing is ever given away for free, especially at Tesla. A valuable lesson to remember since FSD will eventually arrive in France.
