Elroq, Skoda’s Very Eco-Friendly SUV
In addition to its electric motorization, the Skoda Elroq takes the virtuous cursor very far with a very intentional responsible approach.
The all-new Skoda Elroq, which made a very notable appearance during the last stage of the 2024 Tour de France, aims to be the apostle and prophet of a new sustainable automotive conception. To achieve this, it leverages the innovative use of sustainable interior materials such as Recytitan and Technofil. The Elroq’s interior primarily emphasizes simplicity and clean lines. This is well thought out because not only is it in line with current trends, but a simple design and minimal stylistic tweaks remain the best way to limit the quantity of materials used. At the same time, Skoda reinforces its commitment to environmental protection and the reduction of its vehicles’ CO2 footprint with seats and trim fabrics made from recycled plastic bottles and, for the first time, from recycled clothing. These are carefully selected and transformed into new high-quality threads and fabrics.

Customers of Skoda will have the choice of four interior finishes: Studio, Loft, Lodge, and Suite, each incorporating a large proportion of sustainable materials. For example, Loft utilizes a material composed of 78% recycled PET, sourced from items such as plastic water bottles and recycled clothing. The dark gray-blue fabric is paired with dark faux leather and yellow reflective stitching. Lodge, on the other hand, uses a material called Technofil. It is made from regenerated nylon derived from old fishing nets or fabric scraps. This finish is characterized by black fabric paired with light gray faux leather, enhanced with contrasting orange stitching and matching orange seatbelts.

The door panels and dashboard heavily utilize plastics made from recycled water bottles. Nearly three-quarters of the components are produced from recycled materials. Skoda’s approach is all the more commendable as these materials, once their automotive career is over, are 100% regenerable, allowing them to be recycled, remolded, and reused infinitely without losing their qualities!
