Skoda announces a surprise electric sports car!

Skoda has decided to bring its Enyaq RS Race concept to life, infusing it with the competitive DNA of the Fabia RS Rally2.

If you love rallying, the Skoda Fabia Rally2, sold in over 600 units, should be no stranger to you. Since its homologation in early 2015, the Rally2 spec Fabia has won 28 regional championships and 125 national championships, participating in over 22,000 rallies over the last nine years and securing 2,563 victories and 6,400 podium places. 100 units of the latest RS Rally2 version have already been sold in under 2 years.

Straight from the workshops of Skoda Motorsport, the Enyaq RS Race directly draws inspiration from the Czech automaker’s little success machine. With its particularly sporty look, it cannot go unnoticed, but it is primarily designed as a mobile laboratory for new sustainable materials. Thanks to electric technology, the car retains its standard powertrain, and of course the all-wheel drive, which relies on a pair of electric motors producing a total output of 340 horsepower. A transition from road to competition without notable modifications.

In the pursuit of performance, the weight chase is an unavoidable step. Skoda makes extensive use of composite materials based on flax for this purpose. They are used for the roof, fenders, bumpers, and sills, but also for many other parts such as the wings and mirrors. These naturally sourced materials, similar in principle to carbon fiber composites, have already been used on several Alpine prototypes.
