The Nissan Ariya Always Cheaper

Nissan is making significant efforts to boost sales of its 100% electric SUV and tackle inventory issues.

On May 15, 2024, the entire Nissan Ariya lineup benefited from a price reduction of 4,000 euros. It’s like a widespread discount tour. The Ariya range started at 39,300 euros, allowing Nissan to compete with the queen of electric SUVs, the Tesla Model Y, on equal terms. At least in terms of comparable pricing, which is already quite an achievement.

But you know Tesla well by now, and you’ve understood that the American manufacturer cannot keep its prices stable. They go up, they go down, they come and go, just like a dog’s tail, and sometimes it’s hard to keep track. The Model Y, for instance, dropped to 36,990 euros this summer. Let’s be honest, it’s unlikely that Tesla reduced the price of the Model Y to counter the Nissan Ariya’s pricing. The two electric SUVs do not compete in the same sales division, but it would be unfair to say there isn’t a match because the Ariya has solid advantages, starting with a particularly comprehensive standard equipment. From the entry-level Engage version, it includes a heat pump, battery temperature pre-conditioning, two charging cables (Mode 2 10A and Mode 3 32A), and the ProPILOT driving assistance system with Navi-Link, among others.

However, the numbers are stubborn, and the Ariya was thus found to be much more expensive than the Tesla. And trust us, at Nissan they monitor Tesla prices several times a day! The Japanese manufacturer has thus introduced an exceptional discount of 2,000 euros on stock vehicles until August 31. The good news is that this promotion should last, but just in case you really want an Ariya, now you know.
