La Roche-sur-Yon orders 2 hydrogen Iveco buses

The Vendée city of La Roche-sur-Yon begins its energy transition by ordering two hydrogen buses.

Every step, even small, is progress. And when it comes to ecology, we can only applaud. Thus, the La Roche-sur-Yon urban area (approximately 56,000 inhabitants) asked its public transport authority, managed by RATP Dev, to equip itself with its first decarbonized buses. The choice fell on the Iveco GX 337 H2, whose production is French and takes place at the Annonay site in Ardèche.

Following orders from the communities of Cannes Lérins and Lorient, IVECO BUS is strengthening its presence by securing a new contract for its GX 337 H2. These two vehicles will expand the « impuls’yon » fleet, renowned for its commitment to renewable energies such as hydrogen, starting in the second half of 2025.

Silence and Pure Air

“We are thrilled to contribute significantly to the expansion of hydrogen buses in France while supporting the energy transition of transportation in La Roche-sur-Yon. The GX 337 H2 offers a clean, efficient, and high-performance mobility solution,” affirmed Giorgio Zino, European Sales Director at IVECO BUS.

The GX 337 H2 stands out with an innovative combination of a Hyundai 100 kW fuel cell and a 69 kWh battery developed by FPT Industrial. This configuration ensures reduced hydrogen consumption (15 to 20% below the usual average), while optimizing thermal comfort for passengers and extending the lifespan of key components such as the battery and fuel cell. With a capacity of up to 110 passengers, this bus perfectly meets urban network needs.

With a range of 450 km and connected services via IVECO ON, the GX 337 H2 fully meets the performance and energy efficiency expectations of communities and transport operators.
