The new Kia EV6 makes its Bad Girl debut

The Kia EV6 gets a nice facelift with a more aggressive new look and increased range.

At first glance, how could anyone ignore this much more stylized and modern new look? The Kia EV6 has always been a somewhat divisive model due to a stark contrast between the front and rear styles. Wheels, bumpers, and side skirts are also redesigned for more dynamism.

Born of the air, its shapes have largely been dictated by the pursuit of aerodynamic performance to ensure minimal drag. But that doesn’t prevent some touches of elegance, and ultimately this slightly less sleek style gives it that little extra soul it was missing.

Battery Range

Battery manufacturers are working tirelessly on more economical, denser, lighter, and more powerful electrochemical systems. The EV6 benefits from this, and two new batteries now fit into its chassis. The “small” 58 kWh is replaced by an equivalent 63 kWh, while the “large” 77.4 kWh increases to 84 kWh. In both cases, the range increases by more than 50 kilometers, with the most generous version seeing its WLTP mixed cycle range go from 528 to 584 km.

To offset this slight increase in capacity, charging speed also increases, from 240 to 258 kW, allowing a potential charge from 10 to 80% in less than 20 minutes. This is still below the symbolic 600 km mark that the best cars on the market can boast about exceeding, but at least Kia hasn’t prioritized surpassing this threshold at the expense of driving enjoyment. However, this puts the model at a disadvantage compared to the Tesla Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, the Renault Scenic, or the Peugeot E-3008 with their 700 km range, all three priced about 15,000 euros less than our Korean model.

Prices are not yet known for the French market, but the entry-level version is expected to stay around 50,000 Euros, with the current model priced at €49,690.
