Xiaomi Aims to Make Tesla and Peugeot Cabins Outdated

Forget Tesla’s austere cabins and Peugeot’s i-Cockpit, Xiaomi’s SUV arrives with a spectacular interior.
More and more photos and information are emerging on social media and Chinese news sites about Xiaomi’s upcoming SUV, known by the code name MX11. We’ve already talked about its design inspired by the Ferrari Purosangue. Now, thanks to homologation documents, we know that its engine configurations will be identical to those of the SU7, which makes sense since both vehicles share the same platform. Xiaomi is thus inspired by Tesla by offering an SUV sharing 75% of its components with a sedan.
For single-motor versions, an electric unit of 220 kW with a maximum torque of 400 Nm will be placed on the rear axle. In dual-motor versions, this 220 kW unit will be positioned on the front axle, while the rear will host a 275 kW motor delivering 500 Nm of torque, providing all-wheel drive.
A revolutionary interior
Perhaps even more important, the Chinese site News.MyDrivers revealed detailed information about the interior. And the least we can say is that it will be very different from that of the SU7!
In the photo of a test vehicle used as an illustration in this article, a large part of the dashboard is visible through an open window. Notably, there is a long, slim screen extending across the entire width of the dashboard. It somewhat resembles Peugeot’s i-Cockpit, with a fairly high position, but in a much more advanced version. According to patent information, it is called the “first display,” designed to ease information visualization for the driver and enhance driving safety.
Such a screen offers endless possibilities: blind spots, navigation, trajectories, tourist information… The applications are numerous. By adding a high-quality infotainment screen, Xiaomi could very well offer an interior close to perfection.
Besides this digital advance capable of rivaling a Tesla Model 3 Highland, Xiaomi is also tackling the legendary minimalism of the American automaker. The SUV’s door panels can change color on demand, and the doors will open via a push-button integrated into the handle, eliminating any visually bulky elements.
An imminent launch
All of this makes your mouth water, and we won’t be long before discovering all the secrets of this Xiaomi SUV, which is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2025, immediately after its official presentation.
Unlike the endless teasers typical of Renault, with concept cars, prototypes, and show presentations, Chinese manufacturers prefer a straightforward strategy: Launch, Sell, Repeat. In short, they present, sell, and move on to something else.
