Mercedes-AMG Dives Back into Tasteless Tuning
Mercedes-AMG is capable of the best and the worst, but when they go all out, it’s definitely the worst that they excel in!
We had started to wonder what was happening at Mercedes-AMG since the very forgettable A 45 S 4MATIC+ “Limited Edition”, but now we’re reassured. AMG’s tradition of a regular little blunder is maintained. On the menu: an astonishing technical sheet, a stratospheric price, and a design that hesitates between spectacular and tasteless, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ has arrived. This Coupe, or Convertible for those who love wind in their hair and surprised looks, hides under its hood a 3.0-liter inline-six engine pushed to 449 hp, capable of delivering a respectable 560 Nm of torque to all four wheels via a variable all-wheel-drive system 4MATIC+. Thanks to the Overboost, this figure rises to 600 Nm, just in time for a ferocious smile before the rear tires start to worry.

To spice up the offer even more, AMG is once again serving us a “Limited Edition,” and beware, it’s heavy. The 20-inch forged wheels with yellow rims (important, yellow), gray brake calipers (not too much either), and especially a livery resembling a tuning contest from the 2000s. The Coupe features a matte graphite gray finish with a huge AMG logo, while the Convertible opts for a striking spectral blue.

And because a visual overdose wasn’t enough, AMG thought of everything: shiny black mirror caps, an aggressive diffuser, a carbon rear spoiler… each package adds a layer of sportiness, to the point of becoming a real caricature. The interior follows the same logic with black Nappa leather seats with yellow stitching (Coupe) or black/white (Convertible), plenty of carbon accents, and AMG embroidered floor mats to remind us that yes, we are indeed at AMG. Even the door sills light up to perfect that “premium dance floor” atmosphere.
The whole package is delivered with a cover, just to keep this automotive work of art safe in the garage. For those interested (and thrill seekers aesthetically), the vehicle is available for order now, with production running until May 2026. After that, it might be too late to turn heads… or stomachs.
