With Nexo, Hyundai wants to make us love hydrogen

The new Hyundai Nexo embodies a very real vision of hydrogen mobility, with solid arguments.
Leading the FCEV (fuel cell electric vehicle) strategy, the Nexo aligns with the HTWO brand’s mission, Hyundai’s dedicated entity to promote hydrogen as a comprehensive sustainable mobility solution.
The design, inspired by the Initium concept, is bold and futuristic, in the vein of the brilliant N Vision 74 concept. Measuring 4.75 meters long, it is more spacious than its predecessor, maintaining excellent interior space, while now offering up to 1,000 kg of towing capacity in the European version.

Under the hood, the Nexo features a completely redesigned powertrain. The hydrogen fuel cell delivers 110 kW, up 16%, while the new electric motor reaches 150 kW, for a combined power of 190 kW compared to 135 kW previously. The battery doubles its power, from 40 to 80 kW, ensuring quicker accelerations: 0 to 100 km/h is now achieved in 7.8 seconds, down from 9.2.
A true production Hyundai
Range is increased to more than 690 km, thanks to better energy efficiency and a fuel tank capacity increased to 6.69 kg of hydrogen. The fuel cell has been optimized for greater durability and improved cold weather performance, with an anti-icing “Wake Up” function.
Onboard comfort has also improved: a dual 12.3-inch display, AI for voice controls, Bang & Olufsen audio system, ventilated seats, and more trunk space (up to 1,730 liters). Operating noise has been reduced thanks to acoustic-absorbing tires and the ANC-R system that minimizes road noise.

With this next-generation Nexo scheduled for global launch by the end of the year, Hyundai reaffirms its ambition: to make hydrogen a tangible and high-performance reality for everyone. But everyday usability remains another story…
