Early Closure for the Orlybus Line

The scheduled end of Orlybus actually occurs earlier than expected, with Line 14 taking over to connect to Orly.

Starting March 3, 2025, the Orlybus shuttle will cease operations. This decision became unavoidable due to the success of the extension of Metro Line 14, which now places Orly Airport just 25 minutes from Châtelet-Les Halles. This new fast and efficient connection has caused an 80% drop in Orlybus ridership, making its continuation less justified.

Line 14 presents itself as a high-performance alternative for travelers and offers undeniable advantages for reaching Orly:

• Fast: a 25-minute trip compared to 45 minutes for Orlybus.
• Reliable: exemplary punctuality thanks to automation.
• Full accessibility: the line is equipped to accommodate travelers with reduced mobility.
• Frequent: a train passes every 95 seconds, versus 10 to 20 minutes for Orlybus.

To use Line 14, travelers can use their usual tickets, such as the Navigo pass or specific tickets depending on their needs.

Already Scheduled Works

Unfortunately, this early start also has its downsides. To improve its service, Line 14 will experience temporary interruptions until August 2025. These works aim to install a new automatic pilot system and incorporate new trains, reducing the interval between trains to 85 seconds. During these periods, substitute buses will transport passengers to the airport. In short, users will be inconvenienced until the end of the year!

The extension of Line 14 attracts over 25,000 daily travelers, vastly surpassing Orlybus ridership. Many buses operated nearly empty, leading to a reorganization of transport services. By discontinuing Orlybus, authorities aim to avoid redundancy and optimize public resources. Hopefully, the end of the service due to better expense management will not come at the expense of user comfort.
