Fire at the Tesla factory in Berlin

An incident that occurred on Monday at the Tesla factory in Grünheide, near Berlin, led to a significant deployment of firefighters.

According to information from the German media outlet Handelsblatt, a fire broke out in a building where battery modules are assembled, causing extreme heat, gas release, and acrid odors.

All employees present were immediately evacuated. Only the site firefighters and cleaning teams, equipped with full protective gear and respirators, were able to enter the building. It took several hours to control the flames and secure the affected area.

The Oder-Spree prefecture confirmed that it received an initial incident report from Tesla. According to this note, the fire broke out around 3 PM in the battery assembly area. The cause is believed to be related to the conveyor system: several cells reportedly fell from the first floor through a transfer hatch to the ground floor, where they ignited and sparked a fire in the conveyor. The fire was contained to that sector.

Simple warning for Tesla

Tesla has not yet responded to press inquiries regarding the severity of the incident. No official information has been provided about possible injuries, but according to internal sources, no one was seriously harmed.

The Grünheide factory, inaugurated in 2022, is the only European facility of Elon Musk’s American manufacturer. It mainly produces the Model Y, as well as battery components and power units. The site is regularly at the center of controversies, whether related to local disputes, environmental issues, or now industrial safety concerns.
