Tesla has just introduced a novelty that could permanently change the market for used electric vehicles.

An official and certified history of battery repairs directly integrated into the Tesla mobile app. Specifically, when a high-voltage battery is replaced or repaired by Tesla, the owner now receives a permanent digital certificate. Accessible from the “Service History” section of the app, this document details the intervention performed, the date, and the origin of the work. It can also be easily exported as a PDF when reselling.

Behind this discreet update lies a small revolution for second-hand vehicle buyers. Because today, the main concern with an electric car almost always relates to the battery: has it been replaced? repaired? what is its actual condition?

Tesla finally provides a clear and official answer. No more relying on seller statements, lost invoices, or sketchy diagnostics. The history becomes transparent, traceable, and directly linked to the vehicle.

Tesla wants to reassure

And this is precisely where electric vehicles begin to gain an unprecedented advantage over internal combustion cars. No gasoline or diesel engine has such precise and centralized tracking of its main mechanical component. With a used internal combustion car, it is impossible to know for sure if the engine has undergone major repairs, partial replacements, or heavy use, unless one digs through often incomplete maintenance records.

With this digital certification, Tesla introduces a logic similar to a medical record: every significant intervention remains recorded for life. For the buyer, this represents a rare peace of mind in the used car market.
