Tesla’s latest smallest, yet still very bad, idea
This page is translated from the original post "La nouvelle plus petite, mais toujours très mauvaise, idée de Tesla" in French.

Tesla seems to be stubbornly pursuing the development of the Cyber SUV, a more compact Cybertruck, despite all commercial logic.
This determination from Tesla will, of course, excite some fans, but it mainly raises questions about the strategy of the American manufacturer. For several years, brand enthusiasts have been calling for a true electric off-road vehicle that is more maneuverable than the Cybertruck. The one nicknamed the Cyber SUV could fill a gap in the lineup by meeting the expectations, and regulatory standards, of international markets where narrow roads and weight restrictions make the Cybertruck incompatible.
However, what might seem like an exciting novelty appears to be a misguided choice. In an interview with Bloomberg, Franz von Holzhausen, Tesla’s design director, confirmed that these projects are being considered, without making a clear commitment: “These are definitely things we’ve contemplated. Wait & see is probably the best answer. We are working on so many innovative and fun projects.”
Tesla’s Determination
There’s no need to revisit the confirmed fiasco that is the Cybertruck... At least the brand pulled off a nice communications coup with this unique model. The real problem is that Tesla seems to be moving away from a much more promising opportunity. While the highway for affordable and popular electric vehicles is wide open, the country lane of the Cyber SUV appears to be a dead end. The global market demands accessible models that can reach the largest number of people, and this is where the manufacturer could shine thanks to its exceptional expertise in electric cars.
Tesla risks spreading its efforts across a niche segment at a time when the demand for compact and affordable electric vehicles is exploding. The idea of recycling the Cybertruck’s aesthetic onto other models, without the iconic stainless steel, is not enough to make these cars genuinely attractive.

The Cyber SUV sounds great on paper, but the commercial logic is questionable. Between the temptation of the spectacular and the concrete needs of consumers, Tesla could once again miss the opportunity to offer a vehicle capable of transforming the market. Another beautiful waste in perspective…
