Tesla Model 3 STCC

The Swedish Touring Car Championship has made a 100% electric bet. An opportunity to see Tesla on the track.

Three specially modified Tesla Model 3s will be entered by Brink Motorsport next year. When announcing the program in 2023, skepticism about the company’s seriousness was justified, but the promoter revealed this week the first photos of a finished car amid other chassis still being assembled by the private structure EPWR.

All new cars in the STCC are built on the original chassis of each model, then modified for racing by EPWR. In addition to the Tesla Model 3, BMW i4, CUPRA Born, and Volkswagen ID.3 are also expected on the grid for the league’s inaugural season.

An Eco-Responsible Competition Tesla

Designed by EPWR, this Tesla Model 3 is naturally 100% electric. It delivers 550 horsepower to the ground through the rear wheels alone and will be exclusively powered by renewable energy throughout the 2024 STCC season via Atlas Copco’s ZenergiZe energy storage system.

The cars are covered with a raw natural composite skin, a high-performance natural fiber used notably in Formula 1, offering the same durability level as carbon fiber but with significantly reduced environmental impact.

The inaugural season of the 2024 STCC will kick off on June 8-9 in Gothenburg.

This commitment is not officially supported by the brand. Tesla has also sworn they have no ambitions in competition, but this initiative will very likely be watched closely and with great interest.
