Sébastien Loeb, a 100% electric comeback

Sébastien Loeb replaces this weekend the five-time Dakar winner, Nasser Al-Attiyah, for the Extreme E race in Sardinia.

The 2022 Extreme E champion has not abandoned the discipline of electric SUVs. Sébastien Loeb will indeed make his comeback during the two events held in Sardinia (Italy), on September 16 and 17.

This very spectacular competition features off-road prototypes of 400kW (550 hp) SUV, 2.3 meters wide and capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds on very challenging terrains. Broadcasts emphasize the preservation of visited sites to raise public awareness about ecological causes. The Extreme E championship also mandates mixed duos, composed of one man and one woman, within each SUV. An unprecedented blend in motorsport aimed at promoting women’s participation in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

Sébastien Loeb will once again partner with Klara Andersson, the Swedish Rallycross specialist. They finished just off the podium during the previous Extreme E event on the Italian island earlier this year. The nine-time World Rally Champion will replace another off-road star, Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah. He is committed to the Rally of Lebanon with his French co-driver Mathieu Baumel.

“It’s wonderful to be back in Sardinia with ABT and Cupra for two new races,” said Sébastien Loeb. “I’m looking forward to reconnecting with Klara and the team because I have very fond memories of the last time. We didn’t achieve the results we expected and probably deserved, so we will do our best to improve this time.”
