Karting Bouzonville Monaco

When thinking of urban racing, one immediately envisions the Monaco F1 Grand Prix, but everything changes.

Forget Monte-Carlo and its bling-bling, its yachts, and its celebrities. On this weekend in August 2025, it was Bouzonville, a small town in Moselle, that stole the show. Here, there was no paddock by the port but a 850-meter track right in the city center, transformed for the occasion into a circuit worthy of a mini-Monaco… minus the palm trees and plus the bales of straw.

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the Karting Club Bouzonville 57 went big with nearly a hundred drivers from France, Luxembourg, Germany, and even the Netherlands competing in the Édouard Bauer Trophy, named after the club’s founder. And while the karts may not rival the power of Formula 1 cars, the spectacle was certainly there with these small vehicles skimming the sidewalks, shot out at over 100 km/h, under the applause of a crowd gathered behind 3,000 hay bales and 2,000 meters of barriers.

Moselle Gets in the Game

Here, volunteers replaced the famous track marshals in orange overalls, and the stars were on the asphalt, not on the terraces. In the streets of Bouzonville, the adrenaline was the same as in Monte-Carlo: late braking, bold overtakes, and a few scrapes with the hay bales to spice up the race, but without injuries and always in good spirits.

The comparison with Monaco is inevitable, but the atmosphere was, of course, radically different. No red carpet, but fries, waffles, and a refreshment stand run by the locals. No champagne spraying the podium, but a trophy awarded in a friendly atmosphere. And above all, a true scent of a popular festival, where the passion for motorsport is shared with family.
