“Citroën is proud to announce its official commitment to the FIA Formula E championship starting next season. An electric, innovative, and passionate adventure that embodies our values and vision for the mobility of tomorrow,” the brand with the chevrons specifies.

A competition that appeals to Stellantis

So far, few details have been revealed. It is still unclear which team will be replaced on the grid and which drivers will take the wheel. According to our friends at AUTOhebdo, Citroën is expected to succeed Maserati, another brand within the Stellantis alliance, and rely on an experienced driver duo: Jean-Éric Vergne and Nick Cassidy. The New Zealander, recently transferred from Jaguar to the Stellantis group to race with Peugeot in the World Endurance Championship, has already tested the 9X8 and participated in the Lone Star Le Mans in Austin.

Citroën’s complete program in Formula E will be unveiled at the end of October, during the pre-season tests at the Ricardo-Tormo circuit in Valencia. These tests will prepare for the first race of Season 12, scheduled in São Paulo on December 6.
