Decathlon Oxelo R900E and R920E: Electric scooters that stand out?
This page is translated from the original post "Decathlon Oxelo R900E et R920E : des trottinettes électriques qui font la différence ?" in French.

Updated in the Decathlon catalog since late 2022, the Oxelo R900E electric scooter also offers a longer-range version, the R920E.
A sports specialist, Decathlon has long bet on soft mobility and has a solid reputation with its Btwin bikes. But did you know the brand also offers electric scooters? Yes, we almost forgot that the group tried again in 2015 with the Klick under its Oxelo sub-brand. Not successfully, because the electric scooter launched with a manufacturing defect, only working after 6 km/h and at the speed it was pushed (with automatic mode), reaching up to 23 km/h. Light at 10 kg, it was not very competitive and had a low range (max 10 km).
Decathlon then revamped its approach with the R900E, launched at the end of 2021. However, this model also suffered quality issues, putting it out of circulation for several months. It only reappeared in the catalog at the end of 2022, alongside its larger sister, the Oxelo R920E. What are the main differences? Only one: battery size. The first has 242 Wh with an announced 25 km range, and the second has 345 Wh for a theoretical 35 km.
Pro tips: folding handlebars, puncture-proof wheels…
Beyond this aspect, the R900E and R920E are completely identical. They don’t look very different from other electric scooters on the market, but in fact they are: here, the wheels are airless, honeycombed and thus puncture-proof, unlike Segway-Ninebot, which prefers gel-filled tires. However, Decathlon admits that comfort is lower, even with the suspension at the bottom of the fork, while the narrower tires don’t make handling more dangerous. The folding system is also unique: in addition to the foldable handlebar stem, it allows folding the handlebars (like on the Klick), making it easier to store the scooter in a train or at home.
Finally, the third feature is the display. Despite lacking connectivity and an app — which is expected to be added soon — the screen compensates by providing more information: remaining range, trip/total kilometers, or the time (which is simple but missing). Elsewhere, not much to report: a 350 W rear motor in three driving modes, a classic deck 47 cm long, mudguards, and a front light at 5.5 lux. Braking is handled by a single rear drum brake, with nothing at the front.

The Price of Decathlon Electric Scooters
Price? You need to spend €529 for the Decathlon Oxelo R900E and €629 for the Decathlon Oxelo R920E, excluding promotions. Competing models include Ninebot F40I (€649), Xiaomi Scooter 3 (€529), Yeep.me 85 Signature (€599), Dualtron SPW Mini 4 Pro (€690), or Pure Air Pro (€599).
The warranty is 2 years, excluding wheels, handlebar, and brakes, but note that the battery is only covered for one year. However, the brand mentions it survives 500 full cycles.
