Bus Astuce Rouen

Through this initiative, the city aims to encourage Rouen residents not to use their cars.

Rouen residents will be able to use all transport services of the Astuce network for free this Thursday, January 9th. This is not a promotional offer, but a measure aimed at reducing car usage, as the city faces a pollution peak.

A similar decision was already made on January 14th, for the same reasons. This is another commitment by the city of Rouen, which has promised to implement free public transport during each pollution alert peak.

“By this decision, we encourage residents to favor public transportation to return as quickly as possible to satisfactory air quality for everyone,” commented Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, President of the Rouen Normandy Metropolis, and his colleagues. “We are proud to be one of the few, if not the only, Metropolises to implement free transportation from the first alert level.”

Rouen residents invited to carpool

For those who have no choice but to use their vehicle, the Seine-Maritime Prefecture requests that they reduce their speed by 20 km/h on the two-by-two-lane road network. More generally, drivers are encouraged to adopt smoother driving styles and to practice carpooling. As a reminder, the government has implemented a €100 bonus for those starting to share their vehicle with other travelers. The bonus is paid in two installments on the chosen carpooling platform. The first €25 payment is made no later than 3 months after the first carpool trip. The remaining amount is paid no later than 3 months after the 10th trip.
