Mercedes eActros 600: A customer reveals the electric truck’s consumption

In the world of mobility, as elsewhere, at Mercedes as with others, it is always the customers who speak best of the products.
The Vendée-based carrier Transports Derocq has reached a decisive milestone in the decarbonization of its fleet by putting into service its very first electric truck, a Mercedes eActros 600. Received during an official ceremony in Montaigu (85), this next-generation heavy truck quickly delivered its first insights in the field.
Three weeks after its arrival in the company, the eActros 600 had already registered nearly 6,000 km on the odometer. A first mission of 575 kilometers with a load of 8 tons allowed for measuring the truck’s consumption at 85.7 kWh per 100 km, with 20% of range remaining upon arrival.
Compared to a conventional Diesel truck, the consumption of the eActros 600 demonstrates remarkable efficiency. For comparison, an equivalent thermal heavy truck consumes an average of between 28 and 35 liters of diesel per 100 km, representing an energy expenditure of more than 280 to 350 kWh (in energy equivalent). This results in an efficiency ratio of 1 to 3 in favor of the electric truck. In addition to a reduced cost per kilometer, the eActros significantly reduces CO₂ emissions, especially when charged with decarbonized electricity, which is the case for this spirited Mercedes.
Derocq goes green all in
As a pioneer in Vendée with this model, the company has indeed installed 200 kW charging stations powered by 3,000 m² of photovoltaic panels on its buildings. This self-consumption system ensures optimal operating costs for this electric vehicle designed for a range of up to 500 km without intermediate recharging. This autonomy can exceed 1,000 km daily with recharges during mandatory breaks.
As a true technological showcase, the eActros 600 is based on three LFP batteries totaling 621 kWh and is distinguished by its internally developed motor axle. It has already been successfully tested on long European tours in real conditions and has been awarded the prestigious title of “International Truck of the Year 2025.”
Transports Derocq, which has 80 employees and 70 trucks, does not intend to stop there. Damien Derocq is already considering opening up his charging stations to neighboring carriers. “My drivers are proud to contribute to a more sustainable future,” he concludes. The shift to electric is well underway.
