Toyota has thought of its American clientele and cooked up a special pickup, the Ultimate Tailgate Tundra. This idea was born from a partnership between Toyota and the National Football League, the famous NFL. The goal is to offer sports and nature enthusiasts a vehicle capable of taking them to the ends of the Earth without losing a single moment of their favorite sport.

At game time, this Tundra transforms into a true stage with a simple press of a button. A structure built on the truck bed, called a Tailgate in English, rises from the platform using five electric actuators, revealing five weather-resistant 55-inch external screens. These screens are positioned to provide a clear view of the action from any angle or, less selfishly, to air programs for all tastes. To shield from the sun’s glare, a 5-square-meter awning can be deployed.

A custom JBL Club Marine audio system, developed for boats and designed to withstand the elements, completes the experience. An amplifier, four column speakers, and a pair of subwoofers handle the sound ambiance. A satellite Wi-Fi system ensures connection to the channels broadcasting the games, while a generator quietly supplies the necessary power, making the Ultimate Tailgate Tundra fully autonomous.

All that’s left is to fire up the barbecue, open the cooler, and relax while the kids play in the woods.

This is of course just a concept, but it is interesting on multiple levels. The automotive industry must revolutionize itself to continue appealing, and many accessories now make vehicles an extension of the home. From beds integrated into Xpeng to the Tesla Basecamp, up to Rivian cooktops, everything points toward versatility. And with a bit of entertainment, what more could one ask for?
