The ChatGPT service is directly integrated into the DS IRIS SYSTEM infotainment system, allowing the generative artificial intelligence to work in concert with voice recognition. The DS 3, DS 4, DS 7, and DS 9 delivered from this March will include this feature in eighteen countries and in thirteen languages.

This true interactive travel companion promises to answer all kinds of questions. One can sense a certain cultural interest as it will allow travelers to discover the regions they pass through and the monuments they encounter, making long journeys smarter. It is also easy to imagine that lunch breaks will happen more easily outside of gas stations, allowing for the discovery of a small treasure of a restaurant serving local specialties in a village square. A bit of veal blanquette instead of sad triangle sandwiches won’t hurt anyone.

Intuitive, but not too intrusive?

But beyond this idyllic framework lies the question of the confidentiality of exchanges with the system imposed by the manufacturer. When you search for information on ChatGPT, you are feeding this system which grows based on your input. It collects information from all users and stores it in its databases. This means that it is possible to inadvertently share private information with the artificial intelligence.

You can bet that the success of the system rests on years of development, and this issue must have been discussed when it was proposed to the public. It has received approval from the authorities in the countries where it is used, and privacy protection organizations have not yet found any serious flaws. Everything you say in your car will be sent anonymously to the AI. Furthermore, ChatGPT does not access vehicle data or personal information. All interactions are immediately deleted after processing to ensure the highest level of data protection.

So yes, it’s a progress and it would be a shame to miss out on it. Your children will love it, you will surely learn new things, and in case of solitary travel… well, you’ll feel less alone. If you are not reassured, you can simply disconnect it.
