Parking duty is a thing of the past!

Hyundai’s “Parking Robot” is capable of parking vehicles autonomously. A boon for body shops!

Hyundai’s “Parking Robot” might be the device that all drivers allergic to tight spaces have been waiting for. This small electric gadget can autonomously handle vehicles weighing up to 2.2 tons, at a maximum speed of 1.2 meters per second. It is designed to move in all directions, allowing it to maneuver vehicles in tight spaces when parking conditions are challenging. This way, it is possible to have a greater number of parking spaces on the same surface, thus optimizing the available space.

When a customer needs to use their vehicle, the parking robot will retrieve it from its designated parking spot and autonomously park it for the customer’s use. This is the very first time an autonomous parking robot has been commercialized. It is currently only available in Korea but is expected to be rolled out more widely.

This autonomous parking system consists of two wide, flat robots that slide under vehicles to lift and move their wheels. With a height of only 110 millimeters, these robots are compatible with all types of vehicles. This parking robot is equipped with cameras to accurately identify the size and position of the vehicle’s wheels in order to lift it. It also uses LiDAR sensors to detect nearby people, thus avoiding any risk of accidents for added safety.
