Karaoke Option Available at BYD!

You might think it’s a cute joke, but today BYD is making a very serious announcement. Karaoke is moving into the cabin.

There was a time when you had to buy a cassette car radio to equip your car. As an anecdote, who remembers the famous “Golf Bon Jovi” special edition by Volkswagen that was sold without a car radio? Then came the era of CDs, CD changers in the trunk, and USB ports allowing you to connect a flash drive filled with pirated MP3s from Napster. And while car radios were disappearing, integrated directly into dashboards, screens appeared, transforming the cabin into a viewing room, of course while the vehicle was at a standstill. Tesla and Volvo to name a few, made it a major selling point. A new step has been taken in onboard infotainment as the Chinese giant BYD announced a global partnership with Canadian Stingray, a major player in music and media. BYD will integrate an interactive Karaoke application into all its models.

The BYD infotainment system supports dozens of languages and offers an intuitive user interface. BYD owners can access Stingray’s vast international catalog of songs, searchable by title, artist, lyrics, or genre. Of course, the scrolling Karaoke lyrics on the central console will be disabled when the vehicle is in driving mode. Don’t worry, singing while driving will still be possible, as passengers can use their mobile devices to view lyrics and control song selection. It’s simple, but someone had to think of it!

Such news is, of course, delightful and exciting. The automotive industry is experiencing its greatest revolution, and rather than falling into boredom, it prefers to look toward the future… while singing!
