Blimp Goodyear

This weekend, fans of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will have the chance to admire a very special guest in the sky: the Goodyear Blimp.

The legendary Goodyear airship is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and what better way to commemorate this centenary than to fly over one of the most mythical races in the world, adding an extra touch to the already electric atmosphere of the Sarthe circuit.

The Goodyear Blimp is a true flying star with an impressive history. Since 1925, it has participated in major sporting, automotive, and cultural events, both in the United States and Europe. This year, for its hundredth anniversary, it is making an even bigger splash by participating in the largest edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans ever organized by Goodyear.

For the sixth consecutive year, the blimp will fly over the track, offering spectators an unprecedented spectacle in the sky. A few lucky VIPs will even have the chance to soar aboard it to enjoy a unique view of the race, a truly unforgettable experience!

The Most Famous Zeppelin in Motor Sport

In terms of history, Goodyear has been working on airships for over a century. Their very first one, named Pilgrim, took to the skies in 1925, launching a long series of blimps that have become true ambassadors for the brand. Today, four semi-rigid Zeppelin NT airships roam the skies, with three based in the United States and one in Germany.

In 2025, the Goodyear Blimp has already made several stops, including at the WEC races in Imola and Spa, and will continue to participate in other sporting events, music festivals, and more throughout the year.

On the ground, Goodyear will also be active this week with 24 LMGT3 and 17 LMP2 entries for the 93rd edition of the world’s most prestigious endurance race. The tire manufacturer aims to allow drivers to make up to five consecutive stints with just one set of slick tires at Le Mans, a distance equivalent to twice that of a Formula 1 Grand Prix.
