Buy a Tesla and become a virtual taxi!

During the major Tesla shareholders’ meeting, Elon Musk presented this rather surprising opportunity.

Elon Musk has made the rollout of autonomous driving a priority for his brand, as beyond the convenience for the owner, it is a necessary step towards the operation of the Robotaxi on which he is heavily betting. An autonomous car, whether it’s a Tesla or not, is by definition a car that does not need a driver, like the Robotaxi, so the connection was obvious.

Complementarity Tesla-style

Elon Musk was expected to discuss the short-term future of the affordable compact, the famous yet still invisible Model 2. This compact electric vehicle is expected to be the first to enter production in the second half of 2025, but not just for individuals. Tesla plans two versions, one with a steering wheel and the other without, which will be the autonomous Robotaxi. The latter will be unveiled on August 8th, as announced by Elon Musk in early April on his social network X (formerly Twitter). Using the same platform for the compact and the Robotaxi should allow owners, if they wish, to monetize their vehicles by including them for a few hours or days in the commercial taxi fleet. A model in the style of Uber or Airbnb that Musk firmly and very Americanly committed to, stating “This will happen, mark my words”. We can’t wait to see it because this virtual ride-hailing option is certainly intriguing!
