Tesla Prepares France for Its Revolution!

Tesla takes a new step forward. It’s not yet a fully autonomous vehicle, but we’re getting closer!

Tesla has discreetly updated its European websites, including the one for France, to announce the upcoming arrival of its “Full Self-Driving (supervised)” system or FSD (Supervised). Contrary to what its name may suggest, this feature is not yet fully autonomous driving but rather a set of advanced intelligent driving aids, still under the supervision of the driver.

Already deployed in the United States, Canada, China, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, this system will be available in other countries, including France, with future updates. Tesla specifies that some countries, potentially including France, do not yet allow hands-free usage: drivers must therefore remain attentive, hands on the wheel, even if the vehicle can perform a large part of the driving tasks.

What a Tesla FSD under supervision does (and does not do)

The FSD manages many actions: smart navigation, automatic lane changes, intersection management, obstacle detection, parking in a bay or parallel parking, autonomous vehicle exit from a parking space… All with active supervision from the driver. In practical terms, your Tesla can drive you to your destination, but you must remain alert to take control at any moment.

In numbers, Tesla claims 3.8 billion kilometers traveled with FSD, a system that is 54% safer than a human driver according to its data, and training equivalent to 100 years of real driving. Its strong argument: an “always attentive” artificial intelligence, never distracted or tired.

Tesla is concurrently working on a version of “unsupervised” (Unsupervised), which would represent true full autonomy. It is this version that would someday allow for the launch of Robotaxis and Cybercabs. However, this technological and regulatory milestone has not yet been reached. In France, as in the European Union, authorities remain cautious and impose rigorous testing.

In the meantime, FSD establishes itself as an important milestone on the road to autonomous driving… but with you, always ready to take the wheel.
