But the game-changer in Paris is that parking is included for the entire duration of the charging. While a conventional motorist or an electric vehicle owner using a competing charging station must also pay an additional road fee (up to 18 euros/hour in the center for vehicles exceeding 1.6 tons!), a Belib’ user only pays for their charge. This simple detail can cut the total cost of charging in the city in half—or even by two-thirds.

Why it’s very advantageous for residents of Paris

As explained earlier, it’s simply because parking is included during the charging session. At a Belib’ space, there’s no additional road fee: the displayed cost includes the occupation of the space as long as the charging session is active (the bill runs from plugging in to unplugging). However, parking in Paris is expensive, to the point that charging often allows for savings! Yes, it’s a paradox!

And if you charge at night, between 11 PM and 8 AM, when parking is free, the price of kWh drops from 0.33 to 0.25 cents for residents at Flex (7 kW) charging points. Charging is therefore even cheaper.

Be careful though: the time fee applies even at night. You’ll need to get up to move your vehicle, or you might find yourself with a very high bill the next day, unless you have a very large battery to charge…
