Allego Opens Its First Fast Charging Stations on the Highway
This page is translated from the original post "Allego ouvre ses premières stations de recharge rapide sur autoroute" in French.

New player in highway fast charging stations, Allego has inaugurated the first of the 5 stations planned in France.
The days are gone when only Tesla had a network of ultra-fast charging stations near highways with its Superchargers. Charging networks are multiplying, with Ionity, Fastned, and now Allego, which is now operating in France.
Soon 5 Allego stations on highways
Allego is not a new name in the field of fast charging for electric vehicles. The operator has already installed about a dozen 150 kW fast stations near Casino supermarkets since fall 2021.
What’s new is its expansion onto highways. The first Allego station is located on the A355, at the La Bruche rest area in Duttlenheim (Bas-Rhin), near Strasbourg. The stations are not alone, as there is a restaurant with free Wi-Fi and restrooms nearby.
Four more stations will soon open on the same Vinci Autoroutes network, completing the goal of five stations. The other locations have not yet been announced.
What powers and charging prices?
Allego’s charging speeds are comparable to Ionity or Fastned. Firstly, among the 8 charging points, two offer a charge rate of only 50 kW. The other six plugs provide a maximum power of 300 kW, in universal CCS format. There are also two Type 2 and CHAdeMO plugs, at 43 and 50 kW respectively.

In practice, all electric cars on the market reach their limits. With a ceiling of 270 kW, a Porsche Taycan Turbo S with 93.4 kWh will take about 20 minutes to recharge to 80%. A Renault ZOE E-Tech will wait roughly 50 minutes to go from 10% to 80%, as it only accepts 100 kW.
In everyday use, payment can be made contactless or via the Smoov app. The price depends on the energy consumed, at €0.50 per kWh. Thus, recharging costs €20 for 80% of a ZOE and €37 for 80% of the largest battery in a Taycan.
