Respect Road Safety

The Road Safety Authority launches a new national campaign to calm our roads and put respect back at the heart of driving.

In response to the rise of aggressive behaviors, the Road Safety Authority’s goal is clear. Its mission is to remind everyone that each road user—whether driver, motorcyclist, cyclist, scooter rider, or pedestrian—has their place and responsibility. Stress, impatience, or anxiety can quickly escalate: a honk, an insult, an inappropriate gesture… all signs of tension that can turn into danger. To break this cycle, the campaign invites everyone to adopt a simple rule: “Priority to respect.”

Courtesy, patience, and attentiveness towards others are the keys to a safer road. These values, often forgotten in the hustle and bustle of daily life, can nevertheless prevent many tragedies and foster calmer coexistence among all users.

The official launch of the campaign took place in Rennes, this Wednesday, October 15, in the presence of Michèle Lugrand, the interim interministerial delegate for road safety. Simultaneously, awareness operations were carried out in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, and Bordeaux, including the distribution of flyers and stickers bearing the key message: “Respect is shared.”

Visible in more than 800 cities across France, this campaign is based on a manifesto of 5 simple commitments to observe to encourage calm and respectful driving.
