Against all odds, Skoda becomes the second best-selling manufacturer in Europe in the first quarter of 2026.
While the spotlight was on the traditional giants of the industry, Skoda made headlines by claiming, for the first time, the second place among the best-selling car manufacturers in Europe, behind its big sister Volkswagen. This remarkable performance confirms the spectacular rise of the Czech brand.
In the first three months of 2026, Skoda delivered 222,500 vehicles on the continent, an increase of 17.1% compared to the previous year, far exceeding the market average. On a global scale, deliveries reached 271,900 units, up 14%. These excellent results are accompanied by exceptional financial performances: revenue increased by 9.1% to reach 7.9 billion euros, while operating profit hit a historic record of 660 million euros, up 20.9%. The operating margin stood at 8.3% and net cash flow surged by 64.4% to 867 million euros.
The engine of Skoda’s growth is electric
This momentum is largely driven by the strong acceleration of electric vehicles. Deliveries of 100% electric vehicles nearly doubled (+91.9% to 51,800 units). The Elroq rose to second place among the best-selling BEVs in Europe, while the Enyaq ranks fifth. Thanks to these two models, Skoda has established itself as the third best-selling electric brand on the continent.
At the same time, the brand continues its successful international expansion, particularly in India where deliveries grew by 16.7%, as well as in Morocco and Egypt, two rapidly growing markets.
“We have become the second best-selling manufacturer in Europe. It is a historic milestone that we can be proud of in a highly competitive market,” said Klaus Zellmer, Director of Skoda Auto.
