1,000 km of electric range starting today!

Electric cars with a range of 1,000 km are no longer just futuristic prototypes. They are arriving in series production.

Imagine leaving Deauville after breakfast at the Royal and arriving in Saint-Tropez for an aperitif at Place des Lices, covering exactly 1,000 km, without charging even once! This is now (almost) possible, and it’s very real! BYD has just unveiled the Denza Z9 GT, a large electric shooting brake that breaks all records with a range of 1,036 km on a single charge… according to the Chinese CLTC standard. Of course, under the European WLTP standard, it’s less than 900 km, and in highway use, it easily falls below 700 km. But we are already dreaming of tomorrow and don’t bother with these trivial numbers.

This shooting brake, an elegant blend of sedan and wagon, is equipped with a 122 kWh battery. For those who drive less — or who have no home in Deauville or Saint-Tropez — the smaller 102 kWh version already offers 820 km. And that’s not all; a standard long-range version that is lighter and therefore cheaper could exceed 1,100 km.

What remains for combustion engines?

We keep repeating it: without charging, range means nothing! Ultra-fast charging is arriving as quickly as a tank of gas. During tests, the Z9 GT was seen hooked up to a BYD flash charger of 1,500 kW. On March 5, at the “disruptive technology” event, BYD will present its new Blade 2.0 battery and megawatt charging system. Just take the time to have a coffee, and you’re off for another 1,000 km!

Inside, it’s luxury and nothing else, featuring a giant 17.3-inch central screen, two passenger screens, a cozy interior, and semi-autonomous driving with the God’s Eye 5.0 system. In terms of power, it ranges from 496 hp in rear-wheel drive to 1,140 hp in the all-wheel-drive three-motor version. Enough to compete with the most powerful combustion engines… in silence and without getting your cashmere sweater dirty at the pump!

BYD plans to bring this model to Europe as early as this year. From then on, 1,000 km of full electric range and express charging like filling up will no longer be science fiction. It’s the Denza Z9 GT from BYD, and it’s coming soon to us. The future of electric cars is already on the road… and it’s really exciting!
