Brompton T Line 2022 plié

The famous folding bike brand Brompton starts 2022 with a new T Line model featuring a titanium frame, weighing only 7.45 kg, but at a steep price.

Few brands define a category or a type of product. But Brompton has established itself as the reference for folding bikes and continues to continuously improve its offerings. An important development, its T Line is a weight innovation.

The new high-end folding bike

The London-based manufacturer was already known for optimizing the weight of its bikes. They claim to have developed this new model over 3 years, to perfect the design and manufacturing in their Sheffield factory. The result is the T Line, weighing only 7.45 kg on the scale. That’s 37% lighter than the steel equivalent, according to the brand, which compares it to a carbon bike.

To achieve this figure, Brompton uses titanium for its frame, already partially used on the P Line. A very strong material, it could support “a 110 kg rugby player”. The bike also uses carbon in the crankset and the saddle structure (steel-reinforced), also to reduce weight.

Regarding the folding mechanism, the Brompton T Line is said to be more practical than current models, with a spring latch and larger wheel size. The derailleur is the same as on the P Line, as are the Schwalbe tires and caliper brakes.

The price of the Brompton T Line, it’s steep!

However, the price is not the same, due to the expensive titanium. The basic single speed Brompton T Line One is priced at €4,360. The higher-end T Line Urban, equipped with a 4-speed derailleur, costs €4,590.

That’s much more than the P Line which costs just €2,719, and even the electric version starting at €3,495. Both bikes also come in two handlebar variants: Low and Mid.

The T Line will only be available online, as well as in 5 stores worldwide, including one in Paris (85 Rue de Rivoli). However, the release date is still unknown, the official website indicating the bike is out of stock…
