This exceptional BMW is a bridge between dream and reality

This is the story of a BMW concept that ignited passions to the point that the brand had no choice but to produce it.

Unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2024, the Skytop study has stirred the passions of BMW collectors. When a wealthy enthusiast approaches you saying he is ready to pay whatever you want for a model, saying no would really be impolite. BMW did not hesitate long and announced the production of 50 units of the elegant two-seater convertible.

The Skytop is a large two-seater convertible that pays homage to BMW’s rich history of roadsters, notably the 507 and the Z8. The latter was already a tribute to the 507. A successful grand roadster is, above all, a proper balance between a long front hood and an elegant rear. On the Skytop, from the iconic BMW shark nose with illuminated grille to the rear light signature, everything catches the eye. In this respect, the references to the BMW Z8 roadster have been carefully chosen but are reinterpreted with taut lines where the Z8 was all curves.

No concessions on pleasure, whether visual or auditory, with under the hood of the BMW Skytop a 4.4-liter V8 engine that develops a staggering 625 hp. This noble engine is mated to an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. A technological feature that one might not expect to find under the skin of a roadster, the Skytop benefits from an intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive, optimizing stability and driving dynamics in all situations. With this formidable weapon, the BMW Skytop devours the 0 to 100 km/h in about 3.3 seconds.

The price of these 50 exceptional cars has not been disclosed for a simple reason. They have all, of course, been allocated to loyal and wealthy customers of the brand.
