Mini Cabriolet, really new or just a simple facelift?

The new generation of the charming little city car introduces a version of the Mini Convertible that raises quite a few questions.

We’ve learned to be wary of the term “new” that manufacturers throw around excessively. This thought immediately comes to mind upon discovering the “New Mini Convertible“, whose proportions and features strangely resemble the previous generation. The first clue? Those round tail lights, while the new 3-door compact boasts a more triangular design… (see HERE)

Upon closer inspection, this New Mini Convertible bears a striking resemblance to a modernized version of the older model, with updated headlights, front bumper, and hood creases. At the back, there’s the same intention to disguise what can be disguised. The fuel cap has not been changed and still features a notch for your finger to open it, while the new Mini is perfectly smooth. The lights and rear bumper have been updated, but that’s where it ends. The wheels, mirrors, and interior are also in line with the new generation. And ultimately, is this really a problem?

Starting at 33,450 euros

A pleasure machine, the Mini Cooper Convertible is quite timeless, so this significant facelift shouldn’t be too shocking. Its roof still opens in two parts, first like a sunroof and then entirely, within 18 seconds up to a speed of 30 km/h.

Produced in the historic factory in Oxford, UK, the Mini Convertible will offer two finishes, C and S, starting in spring (orders already open) with only gasoline engines. Funny, there is no mention of a future electric version by Mini.
