Hyundai i30

No revolution for Hyundai’s European sedan but some welcome refreshes to continue its long career.

Launched in 2007, the Hyundai i30 is already in its third generation. With an updated exterior and interior, the new generation aims to extend the model’s lifespan. Although it is no longer the flagship of the Korean brand, the i series, including the i10, i20, and i30, has allowed Hyundai to establish a lasting presence in Europe where these three models are produced.

Hyundai has thus unveiled the new i30 lineup with updates to its design and technology. All three body styles are affected, with hatchback, fastback, and sedan versions, along with the sporty N Line trim.

Essential updates

Hyundai focused on functionality rather than flashy features, adding LED lights inside the cabin and trunk for better illumination. All interior surfaces feature new trim to enhance tactile sensation. A new infotainment system now resides on the console with a 10-inch screen and OTA updates. Front and rear parking sensors and parking assistance are now standard. A collision warning system also makes its appearance.

But the biggest change takes place under the hood. To improve energy efficiency, customers can now opt for a powertrain equipped with a 48 V mild hybrid system. This system supports the combustion engine by providing electric boost during energy-intensive phases such as startup and acceleration. The batteries are recharged during deceleration phases.

Production of the new i30 is expected to start in April 2024 at Hyundai’s factory in Nošovice, Czech Republic.
