Nissan Juke Hybride 2022

The compact Nissan Juke crossover features for the first time a petrol hybrid powertrain in its lineup, similar to those of Renault Clio and Captur.

While awaiting the new Ariya electric SUV, which is delayed as part of the very electric Alliance plan with Renault, Nissan introduces a new hybrid model. It arrives on its smallest model, the second-generation Juke launched in 2019.

The Juke borrows its own technology from Renault

Until now, the choice in the Nissan Juke catalog was simple. In the absence of a diesel engine, the Japanese crossover was only available with the small 114 hp “DIG-T” 3-cylinder gasoline engine. Indeed, the brand is considering the end of thermal engines, at least in Europe.

To expand its range, the Juke adopts a hybrid version at the beginning of 2022. It offers no surprises, as it is identical to its Renault counterparts Clio and Captur E-Tech hybrid, sharing the same CMF-B platform. Additionally, the Nissan Juke receives the brand’s new, more modern and sleek logo, first seen on the larger Qashqai.

The Nissan Juke hybrid features the same petrol-electric duo as the Captur and Clio E-Tech.

Under the front hood of the crossover, you’ll find the Nissan-origin 94 hp 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 148 Nm. It works alongside a 36 kW (49 hp) electric motor with 205 Nm torque, also developed by the Japanese manufacturer.

Finally, a third electric motor of 15 kW (20 hp) acts as a starter-generator, built by Renault, as does the automatic transmission. Nissan also adds its e-Pedal, but not in full stop mode, as it can slow down up to 5 km/h.

Will the Nissan Juke hybrid be priced like Captur and Toyota?

The combined power totals 141 horsepower with a torque of 260 Nm. Like all true hybrids, such as Toyota Yaris or C-HR, the Nissan Juke can operate in 100% electric mode at low speeds. The electric system is managed by a small 1.2 kWh battery, sufficient up to 55 km/h, charged through energy recovery during braking and deceleration.

Note that the battery installed under the rear floor reduces the trunk capacity to 354 liters (-68). The overall fuel consumption of the Nissan Juke hybrid is estimated at 5.2 l/100 km, for a range of 118 km. It’s slightly higher than the C-HR, but offers better power (141 vs 122 hp).

The manufacturer has not yet announced the price of this 140 hp Nissan Juke hybrid. Given the logical increase over the 110 hp gasoline version, we estimate an entry-level price of around €27,000. Its main competitors will be its cousin Renault Captur E-Tech hybrid starting at €28,200 (or €199/month) and the Toyota C-HR from €27,050 (or €246/month). The Suzuki Vitara Dualjet Hybrid is also in the same segment, less modern but with an option for all-wheel drive.
