New Toyota RAV4: Everything You Need to Know About the Hybrid SUV

More technological, more efficient, and always versatile, the new RAV4 stands as one of the most advanced hybrid SUVs on the market.

An icon of compact SUVs since its launch in 1994, the Toyota RAV4 embarks on a new chapter in its history with a deeply modernized sixth generation. With over 15 million units sold worldwide, including 2.5 million in Europe, the model maintains its status as a cornerstone for Toyota while integrating cutting-edge technologies and a more pronounced multi-energy approach.

From the very first glance, the new RAV4 asserts its identity. Its redesigned front, sculpted hood, and sharp LED optics give it a more robust and contemporary visual signature. At the rear, the new light strip and modernized logo enhance its character. Despite these styling evolutions, its dimensions remain unchanged, ensuring that maneuverability is still well suited for urban use.

Inside, the evolution is equally striking. The cabin gains space, ergonomics, and perceived quality. The horizontal dashboard structures a clean environment dominated by a 12.3-inch digital display and a 12.9-inch central screen. The new Toyota Connect multimedia system introduces a smoother connected experience, with navigation enriched by TomTom, Google points of interest, and Spotify integration. The whole system is built on a new software platform that is faster and customizable, also incorporating the latest driving aids through the Toyota T-Mate system.

Only electrified… for now?

The new RAV4 offers a complete mechanical lineup, in line with Toyota’s electrification strategy. Two powertrains are available: self-charging hybrid and plug-in hybrid. The former develops up to 194 hp with AWD-i, with a fuel consumption claimed from 4.9 l/100 km. The latter marks an important milestone, with power reaching up to 309 hp and, above all, up to 137 km of range in 100% electric mode (WLTP cycle). This performance is made possible by a next-generation battery and an optimized system, also capable of fast charging with direct current.

On the road, the RAV4 advances in comfort and dynamism. Its reinforced TNGA-K platform improves overall rigidity, while the revised suspensions and optimized sound insulation enhance the driving experience. All-wheel-drive versions maintain solid off-road capabilities, with downhill assist and intelligent torque management.

In terms of safety, the SUV benefits from a new generation of driving aids, with enhanced obstacle detection, active lane change assistance, and 360° 3D vision. These developments reflect Toyota’s ambition to reduce accident risks.
