XPeng ventures into Europe with its P5 sedan

The Chinese manufacturer XPeng is arriving in Europe with its first fully electric model: the P5 sedan.
Little by little, Chinese automakers are establishing themselves on the Old Continent. After MG, Great Wall, Aiways, Lynk & Co, and BYD or Seres, another brand is trying its luck in Europe: XPeng.
XPeng begins its offensive with an all-electric sedan, the P5. Measuring 4.81 meters long, it aims to compete with the Tesla Model 3, although it is slightly shorter (4.69 meters).
Well equipped overall, the P5 benefits from numerous driver assistance systems. The technological aspect of the car is noticeable inside, where a large screen is positioned in the middle of the dashboard. A second screen is located opposite the driver.
Regarding exterior design, the light strips and the chrome trim below the side windows showcase a real attention to detail. However, the P5 remains very classic and sometimes lacks finesse.

A decent range
Technically, the P5 features a 66.2 kWh battery, which guarantees a theoretical range of 465 km (WLTP mixed cycle). According to XPeng, it consumes an average of 14.8 kWh/100 km, which is quite good performance for a vehicle of this size. For comparison, the energy consumption of a Tesla Model 3 is 14.2 kWh/100 km.
Equipped with an onboard charger of 11 kW, the P5 can, on alternating current, go from 30% to 80% in 3.8 hours. With fast charging, the time from 30% to 80% drops to 36 minutes.
The P5 is a front-wheel-drive vehicle. Its motor delivers 211 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. In terms of performance, XPeng promises a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 7.5 seconds.
Not yet in France
For now, XPeng’s European push is limited to four Nordic countries: Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden. The prices provided, which vary slightly depending on the market, are not final. For example, in the Netherlands, XPeng is targeting a price of 48,000 euros.
Eventually, it would be logical to see the brand expand into other European countries. An arrival in France is therefore far from impossible.
