Xiaomi Has Already Delivered the First SU7s!

Just introduced, already delivered. Xiaomi has been setting a blistering pace since the official launch of the SU7, their first electric car.

There are those who talk, those who do, and Xiaomi who does what they say. The delivery ceremonies for the first SU7s took place at an incredible pace last week. With orders exceeding the manufacturer’s expectations by 4 to 5 times, they didn’t really have a choice anyway.

This success stems from relevant and interesting technical choices, and of course, completely unreasonable pricing. Selling at a loss isn’t a problem in China, so they might as well go all out. With a length of 4,997 mm, a width of 1,963 mm, and a height of 1,455 mm, combined with a 3,000 mm wheelbase, the Xiaomi SU7 clearly targets the Tesla Model S and the Porsche Taycan. However, you wouldn’t guess these dimensions from its simple yet particularly smooth and elegant lines. As icing on the cake, it’s offered in a color palette as wide as its ambitions.

The first delivered units are single-motor SU7s powered by a 220 kW (295 hp) unit made by United Automotive Electric Systems, a joint venture between Bosch and Zhonglian Automotive Electronics. By the end of May, they should be joined on Chinese roads by the SU7 Max equipped with two motors, each delivering 220 kW (295 hp) and 275 kW (368 hp), which can be combined to produce 663 hp.

To put things into perspective, the basic model is sold in China for 216,000 yuan, approximately 27,700 euros. That’s 3,000 to 4,000 euros less than the Tesla Model 3 on the local market, with features comparable to the Model S and a look that would make a Porsche Taycan blush…
