Xiaomi Lesson to Tesla and Porsche with its YU7!
This page is translated from the original post "Xiaomi donne une leçon à Tesla et Porsche avec son YU7 !" in French.

With Supercar accelerations, luxury of German SUVs, and a range that can exceed 800 km, the Xiaomi YU7 sets new standards.
To celebrate its 15th anniversary, Xiaomi indulged in a little gourmet pleasure by unveiling a masterpiece of automotive engineering: the YU7, its very first electric SUV. After the success of the SU7 sedan, which has already been delivered over 258,000 times, the Chinese brand continues its meteoric rise in the world of electric vehicles.

The YU7 is a generously sized SUV measuring 4999 mm long, 1996 mm wide, and 1608 mm high. Note that the manufacturer has ensured it does not exceed 5 meters in length and 2 meters in width, which still allows it to be classified as a medium SUV. Despite these dimensions and a wheelbase of 3 meters, it boasts a sleek silhouette available in nine colors, including a green inspired by Colombian emeralds and a spectacular metallic orange. As you can guess, with such dimensions, it’s not a lightweight. Its weight ranges between 2,140 and 2,460 kg, depending on the configuration chosen, which is the real downside of the machine. Ultimately, it may be these dimensions and this weight that will give a breather to the Tesla Model Y, which will retain a clientele intimidated by Xiaomi’s numbers. The target then shifts towards Porsche and the Macan!
In Service of Passengers
On the design front, Xiaomi opts for high-end features with electrified flush handles that include ambient lighting, keyless entry via card or app, and a 100% Nappa leather interior. Xiaomi has chosen not to fall for the trend of vegan leather but to prioritize a responsible tanning supply chain. The result is stunning, and the front “weightless” seats recline up to 123° with a 10-point massage function. Passengers in the back are not left out, with equally luxurious equipment that includes seats adjustable to 135° and optional individual touch screens.

The dashboard is dominated by a “HyperVision” screen that is 1.1 m wide, consisting of three ultra-high resolution Mini LED panels (108 PPD). This is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, allowing for ultra-fast startups (1.35 s) and OTA updates in just 15 minutes.

Under the hood, three versions are offered:
- YU7 RWD: 235 kW, 0–100 km/h in 5.88 s, range of 835 km
- YU7 Pro AWD: 365 kW, 0–100 km/h in 4.27 s, range of 770 km
- YU7 Max AWD: 508 kW, 0–100 km/h in a staggering 3.23 s, range of 760 km

All of this is built on an 800V platform with ultra-fast charging (620 km recovered in 15 minutes). Safety is enhanced with a “reinforced cage” structure, Lidar sensors, 4D radars, and the latest generation Xiaomi assisted driving system. However, there is a small caveat regarding the range, which has not yet been certified and meets the more lenient Chinese standards for heavy vehicles. In the European WLTP cycle, it is not expected to exceed 700 km, which remains highly respectable. In short, the YU7 does not just follow the trend; it redefines what a high-end electric SUV can be.

Finally, its price, which is not yet known, should give some manufacturers cold sweats. Ultimately, we would just like to whisper in the ear of Lei Jun, the founding president of Xiaomi, a little advice: Please, no ultra-sporty Ultra version for the YU7! We like it just the way it is.
