What does Tesla’s Spring Update include?

Tesla rolls out its Spring 2025 update with highly anticipated improvements and some more situational ones.

Tesla enhances the user experience with its new Spring update “Spring Release”.

The Tesla navigation system, already known for its efficiency, now adapts more closely to driver preferences. Routes can be better personalized, considering factors such as travel time, charging stops, or proximity to useful amenities like restaurants and shops. Another highly requested feature finally allows avoiding highways, responding to frequent owner requests.

For practicality, Tesla introduces the ability to adjust the trunk opening height based on location. For example, for a low garage, simply set the desired height, and the car will save it for that spot. This innovation, affecting Model 3, Model Y, and recent versions of Model S and X, aims to prevent those tiny paint chips that can be quite annoying.

As suspected, safety is also a focus. Blind spot display on the driver’s screen is now available for the latest Model S and X, enhancing visibility and confidence behind the wheel. Why not on Model 3 and Y? Simply because they don’t have a driver display? This relates to the eternal question: why not install a heads-up display for essential information such as speed, navigation, and parking info… We don’t have the answer.

The Cameras Contributing

The Dashcam and Sentinel Mode recordings are also upgraded with the addition of side cameras, allowing for more angles around the vehicle. These recordings are now accessible through a redesigned interface, making review easier. This addition mainly addresses Tesla owners’ major concern about the dramatic increase in vandalism acts against the American manufacturer’s vehicles. A small deterrent effect, at least, rather than a real solution to the problem.

Finally, Tesla revisits a controversial decision by reactivating auxiliary ports (USB, wireless chargers) after vehicle shutdown, as long as the battery remains above 20%. This correction has been welcomed by owners who had raised the issue with the company.

With this update, Tesla continues refining its existing models, strengthening its position as a leader in adapting electric vehicles to customer expectations. While some innovations return to fundamentals, others demonstrate the brand’s ongoing ability to innovate continuously and anticipate customer needs.
