Volkswagen launches its new ID. Polo with an offer starting at €279/month. An attractive monthly payment, but a substantial down payment.

The new Volkswagen ID. Polo makes its entry into the French market with a clear ambition: to make electric mobility more accessible. As a successor to one of the most iconic models from the German manufacturer, this 100% electric city car strengthens the ID. range in a segment that has become particularly competitive, already featuring models like the Renault 5 E-Tech, the Citroën ë-C3, and the Fiat Grande Panda electric.

Based on the new MEB+ platform, the ID. Polo aims to combine a compact format with premium features. Volkswagen announces a range of up to 453 km (WLTP cycle) depending on the versions, a trunk of 441 liters, and fast DC charging that allows the battery to go from 10 to 80% in about 24 minutes. The cabin also emphasizes technology with a digital instrument cluster, state-of-the-art multimedia system, numerous driving aids, and the return of physical controls for key functions. The base price starts at €24,995, positioning the ID. Polo among the new benchmarks in the segment.

To support its launch, Volkswagen is focusing on a Long-Term Rental (LLD) offer aimed at attracting drivers looking to switch to electric. Until June 30, 2026, the ID. Polo Life Edition is available from €279 per month for 37 months, with a total mileage of 30,000 km. The contract also includes three waived monthly payments, as well as three years of maintenance, warranty, assistance, and a replacement vehicle.

An offer that requires consideration

On paper, this monthly payment places the ID. Polo among the most attractive offers in its category. But one element deserves closer examination: the first payment. This reaches €8,600, reduced to €4,000 after deducting the EDF Subsidy of €4,600, subject to eligibility. A contribution that remains high, even after taking this aid into account.

In fact, it is on this point that Volkswagen’s offer stands out from several of its competitors. In the electric city car market, many manufacturers now promote LLD formulas with no down payment or with a much lower first payment, in exchange for slightly higher monthly payments. In the case of the ID. Polo, Volkswagen opts for the opposite: to show a particularly competitive monthly rent, but at the cost of a more significant financial effort right at the contract signing. A way to make the customer more responsible, which remains a real commercial barrier.
