Urban Cruiser, Toyota’s new small electric city car

Compact and tall with well-appointed accommodation, the Toyota Urban Cruiser bolsters Toyota’s electrified offering.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser is built on a new in-house platform dedicated to battery electric vehicles shared with Suzuki. As you may have guessed, it is the cousin of the electric Suzuki Vitara. Its structure optimizes interior space thanks to an extended wheelbase and the absence of cross braces in the floor, which frees up room for the battery. The rear seats are adjustable, allowing for increased space for passengers or cargo. The horizontal dashboard and high seats ensure good visibility.

The dashboard combines a 10.25-inch digital screen and a 10.1-inch multimedia screen into a single unit. The multimedia system is designed for simple and quick use, with integrated navigation that utilizes real-time data to update traffic information. Smartphone integration allows passengers easy access to their favorite apps and services.

A compact versatile format

With dimensions slightly larger than those of the Yaris Cross, it measures 4,285 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,640 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. Its maneuverability is enhanced by a turning radius of 5.2 m, an asset for urban environments.

The vehicle will be available with various configurations of motors and batteries, ranging from 49 kWh to 61 kWh, with power outputs varying from 106 kW to 135 kW, depending on the chosen version. The 49 kWh battery will be available exclusively in the Urban Cruiser with front-wheel drive, paired with a 106 kW / 144 hp motor. The front-wheel drive Urban Cruiser will also be offered with the 61 kWh battery paired with a 128 kW / 174 hp motor. For customers looking for a true SUV, it will also be available with all-wheel drive, coupled with the 61 kWh battery and a 135 kW / 184 hp motor. A heat pump air conditioning system and battery preheating complete the features to enhance performance in cold conditions.
