Fisker is Carefully Managing Its Return

After a decade of stagnation, Fisker made a grand comeback with two new models, the Ocean and the Pear, which is being revealed more today.

This crossover measures 4.50 meters in length, similar to a Renault Scenic or a Peugeot E-3008, and is built on a steel platform (FP28), which is less expensive to produce than the Ocean’s aluminum platform. Besides greatly reducing the number of parts needed for its construction (Fisker mentions one-third compared to competing models), the Pear was designed to be ultra versatile. The SUV will offer a three-seat front option thanks to a dual bench attached to the driver’s seat.

Fisker offers two types of batteries. A basic version with 320 km WLTP range and a long-range version promising up to 560 km.

Production is scheduled to start in 2024 with sales in Europe beginning mid-2025 at 32,900 euros, before the ecological bonus in Germany, which amounts to a few hundred euros more in France, due to an additional 1% VAT.

While the Ocean is produced in Europe, this new model will be manufactured at Foxconn, in the former General Motors facilities in Ohio (USA). And that’s the main issue, as this overseas production is likely to cause it to lose eligibility for the Ecological Bonus.

A charming look, proven technology, a reasonable price, and a brand with a strong image—everything is in place to ensure a bright future for this charming Pear.
