Top 10 Electric Cars: Tesla No. 1, Where Are the French Models?

With 5,700 units in November 2022, the Tesla Model Y and 3 lead the electric car market ahead of French groups Renault and Stellantis.

More than 20,000 electric cars were delivered last month in France, marking a 23% increase compared to November 2021. In this context, one brand is largely responsible for this growth and accounts for more than one in four vehicles.

It’s quite unusual, but Tesla performed better in November than in October and September. Normally, the American manufacturer does the bulk of its figures at the end of a quarter. This is good for finishing first in certain markets, such as September. However, this has a downside, creating a bottleneck in delivery logistics. Elon Musk therefore changed this method to smooth out its volumes.

New surge for Tesla in 2022

AAA-Data nevertheless records a significant boost this month in the French market. The Tesla Model Y SUV is by far the top-selling electric vehicle in the Top 10, along with the Tesla Model 3. With more than 2,800 units each, the American models surpass the modest Dacia Spring.

The new Renault Megane Electric takes fourth place ahead of the Peugeot e-208. The latter remains the number 1 overall for 2022, and is expected to stay there in December. With 17,886 units, the compact electric leads over the Spring (15,226 units), the Fiat 500 (14,413 units), and the Model 3 (14,330 units). The Tesla Model Y only reaches 8th place, with fewer than 10,000 units.
