The German manufacturer is implementing the next step in its electrification strategy with this VAN.EA. Starting from 2026, all new medium and large vans developed by Mercedes will be based on this modular, flexible, and scalable electric architecture. Whether for private or professional use, these models are aimed directly at the high-end market. The portfolio will range from family vans to exclusive VIP shuttles, including luxurious and spacious long-range limousine versions for the most demanding customers. Regarding the installed technologies, the new vans will be offered in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive versions, and all will be equipped with the latest version of the Mercedes operating system, an 800-volt charging system, and a 22 kW home charger.
After a long development cycle of over 3,000 km from Stuttgart to the North Cape in early June, current tests are focusing on the interaction of all components throughout the vehicle. In winter, it’s off to Sweden for the inevitable cold-weather testing.
