The Tesla Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive Slashed to €42,350

By deciding to discount certain versions of its Model Y, did Tesla make the All-Wheel Drive version eligible for the ecological bonus?

As the end of the year approaches, more good deals will pop up at Tesla. Sometimes through communications, sometimes not. It will then be up to the customer to be aware to avoid being caught off guard.

Officially, and until September 30, 2024, all Tesla Model Y – except for the highly popular Long Range version – are discounted by 4000 euros automatically. Thus, the price of an All-Wheel Drive version drops from 51,990 to 47,990 euros in the catalog. It’s a shame, that 1000 euros difference would have triggered the additional ecological bonus of 4000 euros…

Nonetheless, among the vehicles already in dealerships waiting for buyers, there are new models (5 km on the odometer…) that benefit from a “price adjustment” of 5640 euros. This is enough to bring them down to 46,350 euros!

LESS EXPENSIVE THAN THE LONG RANGE?

By applying the ecological bonus of 4000 euros allowed for electric vehicles priced under 47,000 euros (depending on their origin), the Tesla Long Range All-Wheel Drive becomes even cheaper than the Long Range RWD. Quite ironic!

This amusing situation confirms that the cannibalization of customers within the Tesla catalog poses a real problem for the American manufacturer.

Finally, do not forget that even the Model Y Performance, with its top-notch looks and dynamics, is also discounted by 4000 euros. Its price thus falls to 53,990 euros.

If after that we are firmly assured that the deep technical update of the Tesla Model Y is not imminent – Tesla likes to unveil its new products every autumn – then we would be fools.
