The Tesla Cybertruck arrives in Europe

No commercial launch in sight for the Cybertruck, but a European tour similar to the one initiated in China.

At the end of its Chinese tour, the Tesla Cybertruck will set its massive wheels on European soil to be showcased to the public under real conditions. The first step of this journey on the Old Continent will naturally be the Berlin Gigafactory. While organizing this presentation tour is not surprising given the global popularity of the electric pickup, its objectives remain unclear.

It has long been known that as it stands, the Cybertruck cannot be registered in Europe. Lars Moravy, Tesla’s Vice President of Engineering, confirmed this without any ambiguity: “European regulations impose a 3.2 millimeter radius on protruding parts. Unfortunately, it is impossible to achieve such a radius on 1.4-millimeter-thick stainless steel sheet metal.”

Would Tesla be willing to adapt the Cybertruck’s body for Europe? The low volume of sales, linked to the price, size, and the specific driving license required, suggest the opposite.

However, some European countries have lighter regulatory constraints. It is possible to drive in England in a car that participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and in Monaco, it is not uncommon to see old racing cars with license plates parked in front of the Casino. All of this costs a pretty penny, but it remains possible. So, we will certainly see Cybertrucks on our roads with personalized license plates.

Ultimately, the aura surrounding the model remains. A Cybertruck in a dealership is guaranteed to attract Tesla enthusiasts and perhaps even be an opportunity to sell a few more cars. What better way to draw crowds than inviting them to come admire the spectacle? The monster showmen are back in the 21st century.
